What is lesser balloon vine?

Lesser balloon vine is a type of vine that belongs to the family Apocynaceae. Scientifically known as Cardiospermum grandiflorum, it is also called small balloon vine because of its small, balloon-shaped seed capsules. It is native to Central and South America, but it is also found in some parts of the USA, particularly in Florida.

This vine can grow up to 10 feet in length, and it has small, delicate, green leaves that are arranged in threes. It produces small white flowers that bloom from spring to autumn. The plant prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It does well in tropical and subtropical climates with moderate to high humidity.

Lesser balloon vine is known for its medicinal properties, particularly as an anti-inflammatory agent. It is traditionally used to treat skin diseases, coughs, and asthma. However, the plant is also considered invasive in some regions, as it can quickly spread and overtake native vegetation.
